Lupine Field

Lupine Field

Long ago Icelandic sheep ate up most of the grass on the island. In the 1940s, a delegation came to the United States to look for ways to reduce erosion on road banks. One person brought back one package of lupine seeds. There was a concerted campaign asking Icelanders to collect the seeds and distribute them around. Now there are lupines throughout the island.
