I went to Japan at the end of a trip to see the total solar eclipse in July 2009. Our visit included an observatory (since the eclipse is an astronomical event). The actual line of totality was out in the Pacific Ocaen, so I include here pictures of Iwo Jima (near the center line of totality) and the eclipse itself.
